The Florida Commodores Association serves as a greatly needed link among Florida yacht clubs. It provides for the exchange of information among clubs on a statewide basis. Its educational program is designed to improve the quality of leadership in yacht clubs by providing instruction in the proper functioning of clubs and the customs and courtesies of yachting. It provides a much needed social link among commodores, future commodores and past commodores of yacht clubs in the State of Florida and, through its international umbrella association, the International Commodores Association (ICA) it engages in charitable programs and maintains active relationships with recognized yacht clubs throughout the world.

Incorporation:

Our association was incorporated on December 16, 2008.

Our Vision:

The Premier Florida Commodores organization dedicated to sharing knowledge, ensuring the future of Florida yachting and preserving our traditions.

Our Mission:

To establish a community of Past Commodores’ who are members of recognized Florida Yacht Clubs,  promoting Florida and International yachting  customs and traditions through awareness, educational, charitable and social programs.

Chapters:

The chapter is the basic unit of the Association.  A chapter consists of five (5) or more members, from one or more yacht clubs.  A chapter may be chartered to a particular yacht club if all of the chapter members are current members of that club, or it may be chartered to a geographic region.

Divisions of Districts:

Five (5) or more chapters may combine to form a regional unit, which is named rather than numbered, and may or may not contain the word "district" in its title.  For example, a district may choose to call itself the " Southern Ontario District" or the "Florida Commodores Association".  Each district or division is encouraged to adopt its own distinctive flag for use on its insignia.  Officers of such units are distinguished by wearing shoulder boards with red overlays and insignia of office in gold or silver.
